Good news for the big cat loving people of Chhattisgarh ! Forest department of Chhattisgarh has written a letter to Wild Life Institute of India after approval from the Govt. of Chhattisgarh for the survey to bring 4 pairs of tigers. The survey will find out whether Baranwapara forest has enough wild animals for preying for the survival of these tigers.

The team will also examine if the proposed forest qualify as the natural habitat for these tigers. There is a plan to bring tigers from M.P. and Maharashtra for this project. It is said that last time around 2011 there were proofs of Tigers’ presence found in this area.

After 2011 neither villagers or any camera trap could find any trace of tiger in this area. According to the forest department seniors, during 1970 there were around 25-30 tigers used to live in this forest area. After this due to urbanization the numbers kept reducing.

As per the proposed plan the shifting of tigers will be done through tranquilization and initially they will be left in the covered forest area of 25 to 30 acres and at later stage will be freed in the forest.
