In a groundbreaking move toward sustainability, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is fueling a green revolution in Chhattisgarh by committing to two state-of-the-art Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plants. This eco-friendly initiative, led by the Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA), marks a significant stride in the region’s sustainable development.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony, graced by the esteemed presence of Honorable Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai and Honorable Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, sealed the collaboration between the Municipal Corporation of Raipur/Bhilai, CBDA, and BPCL. Mr. Anurag Saraogi, Chief General Manager-Biofuels, represented BPCL during this historic event.
BPCL’s commitment of a substantial Rs. 100.00 crore investment underscores its dedication to establishing 100-150 Tons Per Day (TPD) capacity plants in Raipur and Bhilai. Beyond efficiently managing 200-250 metric tons of Municipal Solid Waste daily, this initiative is set to create 0.60 lakh man-days of employment annually.
With a strategic focus on fostering organic farming and achieving net-zero emissions, BPCL is propelling Chhattisgarh towards a sustainable, green future. This initiative not only addresses waste management challenges but also aligns with the broader goal of promoting organic agriculture, paving the way for a cleaner and more environmentally conscious tomorrow.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has said that the establishment of the compressed bio gas plant is an important step towards clean cities and clean energy. The Chief Minister was addressing the program after the tripartite agreement made for the establishment of compressed bio gas production plant from municipal solid waste in Municipal Corporation Raipur and Municipal Corporation Bhilai in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao at his residence office here today. .
In the program, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, a Government of India undertaking, Municipal Corporation of the state Raipur and Bhilai and Chhattisgarh Bio Fuel, for the establishment of a compressed bio gas plant based on municipal solid waste of 100-150 tons per day capacity in Raipur and Bhilai Municipal Corporation. A tripartite MoU was signed between the development authorities. The agreement was signed by Chhattisgarh Bio Fuel Development Authority Chief Executive Officer Sumit Sarkar, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited Mumbai Chief General Manager Anurag Saravagi, Municipal Corporation Raipur Commissioner Avinash Mishra and Municipal Corporation Bhilai Commissioner Devesh Kumar Dhruv. Senior officials of the concerned departments were present on this occasion.
Addressing the program, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that today is a historic occasion for Chhattisgarh. When an important MoU has been signed for clean state and clean energy. He said that in the two compressed bio gas plants to be established, about 200 to 250 metric tons of municipal solid waste will be used in the production of biofuel every day. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited will invest approximately Rs 100 crore for setting up these two plants in the state.
The Chief Minister said that with the establishment of these plants, about 60 thousand man days of employment will be generated directly and indirectly every year in the state. Employment opportunities will increase. On production and sale at full capacity in compressed bio gas plants, the state will receive GST of Rs 45 lakh every year. The plant will also have organic fertilizer as a co-product. This will encourage organic farming in Chhattisgarh.
