Thousands of people living here will get the benefit of two important and useful schemes of capital Raipur. Kharun River Front will be built on the banks of Kharun river from Raipur to Kumhari. Due to this, the time taken to reach Kumhari from Raipur will be reduced to just 10 to 15 minutes. About 18 km parallel road will be built on the banks of the river.
There will also be greenery along the road. This will greatly benefit the people traveling to and from Raipur and Kumhari. The second major scheme is road widening from Sharda Chowk to Tatyapara. With the completion of this project, thousands of people walking daily on GE Road will be benefited and the situation of traffic jam will not arise here. Both the schemes have been pending for the last several years, but Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has clearly directed the officers during the meeting on Saturday that the work on these projects should be started expeditiously by coordinating between different departments.
On the lines of Gujarat’s Sabarmati River Front, the Kharun River Front, which is considered to be the lifeline of Raipur, is also being considered for development of Kharun River Front. In the past, Raipur Development Authority had prepared a plan regarding this and survey etc. was also done. The company had also prepared the report after conducting the survey, but after some land dispute arose, the government canceled the proposal itself. Congress’s Bhupesh Baghel government insisted on preparing this scheme afresh as soon as it came.
Water Resources Department, Public Works Department and Urban Administration Department will complete it together. However, there was never a joint meeting of the departments, nor did preparations start on the ground regarding the scheme. That’s why Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has now issued clear instructions to the officers regarding this scheme that work should be started on it under any circumstances. This will benefit thousands and lakhs of people in the capital. Right now work is going on on the plan of greenery on both sides of Kharun.
Municipal Corporation Raipur and Smart City are going to develop the part of about 4 km coming in the part of Raipur. According to Raipur Mayor Ejaz Dhebar, work will be done to create small gardens, seating areas, swings and necessary facilities for the fairs to be held on Teej festival in the river front of Raipur.
Big benefit from Tatyapara road widening
About 700 meters from Sharda Chowk to Tatyapara is left for widening. Efforts are going on for the last about fifteen years, but till now the work has not started. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has approved a budget of 10 crores for the widening. The Municipal Corporation has to prepare its proposal and send it to the government.
The Chief Minister has instructed the officers to get the proposal approved by getting the survey done at the earliest regarding road widening. Municipal Corporation will discuss with the affected people in this regard. After this the report will be prepared and then a proposal will be made and sent to the government. The issue of compensation for road widening is more complicated. An expenditure of more than 50 crores is estimated on the scheme. The whole project will depend only on getting the budget from the government.
