Science centre situated at Vidhan Sabha road Raipur will have an innovation hub soon. This will help immensely in promoting logical ideas and creativity of students belonging to any class or school in Chhattisgarh. Technical support would also be provided to the willing students.
This is a most welcome step towards encouraging scientific temper for the city. The very objective of this facility is to provide a platform and launch pad to science students who are more than eager to explore and think creatively on the subject of science. The Science Centre will provide opportunities for new experiments for the students and any such idea will be promoted by the Centre.
The immersive Dome will also be operated from this Science Centre. As you know the immersive dome is situated at the Naya Raipur.
What is an Immersive LED Dome?
An immersive dome consists of a dome-shaped metal frame draped in a dark-colored substrate. LED panel tiles are then affixed onto the substrate to make it an LED module capable of displaying images and video. The LED tile panels are attached using magnets thereby producing a seamless module. In a nutshell, this is the 3D equivalent of an LED video wall.
The images displayed by a Viewpointec LED ceiling screen have amazing contrast. This is because the dark-colored substrate placed beneath the LEDs prevents cross-reflection of light rays. It also enhances the immersive experience by blocking off the dome from the surrounding external environment. Being inside it is akin to being transported to a different planet.
For consistency, we calibrate every dome at our factory to ensure all its LED panels offer uniform brightness and color. It is also at this stage that we test its general functioning to confirm it is up to standard.
What is Immersive Cinema?
Immersive cinema is a new genre in filmmaking – and we are one of the pioneers. Immersive cinema is “expanded cinema”, film that “explodes the frame”, goes beyond the screen, fills the entire visual field of the spectator and therefore immerses (integrates or surrounds) the audience in the most impressive way.
With immersive cinema the audience is “inside the film”, becomes part of the film, is surrounded by moving images, gets a realistic impression of the location, becomes weightless, is floating in space and enters a completely new area of imagination.
Immersive cinema offers the most impressive film presentation possible today. It is more realistic and pleasant than regular 3-D films, it is not limited to a singular experience like in Caves. Immersive cinema is real 3-D, 3-dimensional film, surrounding cinema.
It provides an opportunity to go beyond traditional storytelling. The visitors are no longer outside the story – they are part of it, they can look around instead of looking onto a screen, they „feel“ the story, they are completely involved, they enter new spaces, explore new ways to look at something, go on inner journeys exploring their own consciousness, rather than being spoon fed a story through narrative. We have only touched upon what is possible. We believe in the future of immersive cinema.
